League of Legends stats measure how you turn time into advantage. KDA tracks how often you take part in kills versus dying, CS per minute measures farming, kill participation shows team presence, vision score rates your warding and ward clearing, and damage and gold share show how much of your team's output runs through you.
Below: what each number means, how it is calculated, which stats matter most for your role, and why Riot Games does not publish an official "good" number for most of them.
What are the most important stats in League of Legends?
Every post-game screen and stats tracker pulls from the same match record Riot provides. A sample response from Riot's own match API includes fields such as kills, deaths, assists, gold earned, minions killed, neutral monsters killed, damage dealt to champions and vision score (Riot match-v5 sample). Trackers then turn those totals into rates and shares.
| Stat | What it measures | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| KDA | (Kills + Assists) / Deaths | Rewards fight impact while punishing deaths |
| CS per minute | Minions and monsters killed per minute | Farming is the most reliable gold income |
| Kill participation | Share of team kills you got a kill or assist on | Shows whether you are present where fights happen |
| Vision score | Value of wards placed and enemy wards cleared | Map information wins objectives and prevents ganks |
| Damage share | Your champion damage as a share of your team's | Shows whether you deliver the damage your pick is built for |
| Gold per minute / gold share | Gold income rate and your slice of team gold | Tells you how resources were split and whether you converted them |
| Objective stats | Turrets, dragons, Baron and other epic monsters | Objectives, not kills, end games |
| Win rate | Wins divided by games played | The result that matters, but only with enough games |
How is KDA calculated, and what does it miss?
KDA is kills plus assists, divided by deaths. A 4/2/8 game is (4 + 8) / 2 = 6.0. Because dividing by zero breaks the formula, sites either treat zero deaths as one death or label the game "Perfect" (League of Legends Wiki).
KDA is useful because assists count, so supports and junglers are not punished for letting carries take kills. Its blind spots are just as important:
- It ignores what happened between fights, such as farm, waves and objectives.
- Playing too safely can inflate it while you lose map control.
- Deaths that trade for Baron or an inhibitor can still be good deaths.
What is CS per minute, and what counts as creep score?
Creep score (CS) counts units you last-hit. Each lane minion is worth 1 CS and a full jungle camp is worth 4, according to the wiki's creep score page. CS per minute is simply total CS divided by game length in minutes.
The same page charts the maximum lane minion CS possible: 126 by the wave that arrives at 10:05 and 249 by 20:05, excluding super minions and jungle camps. That is a perfect-farm ceiling, not a target. Riot does not publish a "good" CS per minute, and the round-number benchmarks that circulate online usually cite no dataset, so judge yours against players at your own rank and role, ideally with a match tracker that keeps your history in one place.
What is kill participation?
Kill participation (KP) is your kills plus assists divided by your team's total kills, shown as a percentage (League of Legends Wiki). If your team got 20 kills and you had 5 kills and 7 assists, your KP is 60%.
High KP usually means you show up for skirmishes and objectives. Low KP is not automatically bad: a split-pushing top laner may draw pressure elsewhere while the team fights. Read it alongside your objective and turret stats before judging it.
How does Riot calculate vision score?
Vision score is an estimate of how much useful vision you provided and denied. The wiki's vision score page breaks it down like this:
- Wards placed: up to 1 point per minute a ward lives, scaled by how useful it was.
- Wards cleared: 1 point per minute of lifetime the enemy ward had left, with permanent wards counted as 1.5 minutes.
- Reveals: 0.5 points per champion revealed by Scryer's Bloom or the Rift Scuttler, and 0.33 points for vision-only abilities such as Ashe's Hawkshot.
Penalties cut the value of low-impact wards. A ward with no enemies nearby goes stale (down to -50%), wards stacked near other allied vision lose 25% to 75%, wards near your own base lose value, and wards next to allied structures earn nothing. A ward cleared almost instantly still earns a small 0.33-point baseline.
What is a good vision score per minute?
Riot has not published official benchmarks. LoLTheory (article updated August 25, 2026) offers rough figures of about 1 vision score per minute for solo laners and ADCs, about 1.5 for junglers and 1.5 to 2 or more for supports, but notes that these are estimates from third-party trackers and community discussion, not Riot data (LoLTheory). Treat them as a loose sanity check, not a standard.
What are damage share and gold share?
Damage share is your damage dealt to champions divided by your team's total damage to champions. Gold share works the same way with gold earned. Both come from per-player totals in Riot's match data, which trackers sum across the team (Riot match-v5 sample). Gold per minute is gold earned divided by game length.
Read them together. A mid laner with a high gold share and a low damage share took resources but did not convert them. A support with low gold share and decent damage share is doing a lot with very little. Champion choice matters too: a tank's damage share will rarely look like an assassin's.
Which stats matter most for each role?
No single stat line fits every position. Use this as a focus list, not a scorecard.
| Role | Stats to watch first | Context to remember |
|---|---|---|
| Top | CS per minute, turret damage, deaths | Low KP can be fine if side-lane pressure pulls enemies away |
| Jungle | Kill participation, objective takes, vision score | Jungle camps count toward CS, so compare CS only with other junglers |
| Mid | CS per minute, damage share, kill participation | Roams should show up as KP, not as lost farm with nothing gained |
| ADC (bot) | CS per minute, damage share, deaths | Gold share is usually high, so damage needs to match it |
| Support | Vision score, kill participation, deaths | Low CS and gold share are expected; KDA mostly comes from assists |

How many games do you need before win rate means anything?
Win rate is wins divided by games, but small samples swing hard. With a true 50% win rate, the expected wobble (one standard error) is about 16 percentage points over 10 games, about 7 over 50 and about 5 over 100. A 60% start over 10 games is mostly noise; 60% over 100 games is much more meaningful.
The same applies to champion win rates on your own profile. Before deciding a pick "works" for you, give it a few dozen games and check whether your CS, deaths and damage share hold up too. You can compare yourself with friends using compare players.
How do you use your stats to improve?
Stats are a mirror, not a shortcut. A simple loop works for most players:
- Pick one stat tied to your role, such as CS at 10 minutes for laners or vision score for supports.
- Review five recent games and find the moments that cost you, like missed waves during roams or wards placed where nobody walks.
- Practice one fix, for example last-hitting in practice tool or warding before each objective spawns.
- Recheck after another five to ten games and keep only what moved.
Avoid tools that claim to calculate your hidden MMR. Riot's developer policy bars apps from creating alternatives to the official ranking, such as MMR or Elo calculators (Riot developer docs). For goal-setting by rank instead, try the rank goal planner.

Track your climb. RankSurge League of Legends lookups are coming soon, after Riot API approval. When they open, our player lookup will show the stats in this guide. Until then, bookmark the League of Legends stats hub for guides and updates.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good KDA in League of Legends?
There is no official good KDA, because Riot Games does not publish benchmarks and the number depends heavily on role and playstyle. KDA is (kills plus assists) divided by deaths, so supports and junglers can post strong KDAs through assists alone. A better approach is to compare your KDA with your own recent average on the same role, and to check whether your deaths came from avoidable mistakes or from trades that won objectives. A high KDA with low objective control can still mean you played too passively.
How is CS per minute calculated in League?
CS per minute is your total creep score divided by the game length in minutes. Each lane minion counts as 1 CS and a full jungle camp counts as 4, according to the League of Legends Wiki. Some other units, such as wards and champion-summoned units, can also add to the count. Because jungle camps count, junglers should only compare CS per minute with other junglers. Laners get the clearest signal by tracking CS at 10 minutes, since early waves are less affected by roams and teamfights.
How does vision score work in League of Legends?
Vision score estimates how much useful vision you provided and denied. Wards you place earn up to 1 point per minute they survive, reduced when they are stale, redundant, near your own base or beside allied structures. Clearing an enemy ward gives 1 point per minute of its remaining lifetime, and permanent wards count as 1.5 minutes. Revealing enemies with Scryer's Bloom, the Rift Scuttler or vision-only abilities adds smaller amounts. Smart placement beats placing lots of wards.
What is kill participation and what is a good percentage?
Kill participation is your kills plus assists divided by your team's total kills, shown as a percentage. It tells you how often you were involved when your team got a kill. Riot does not publish an official good percentage. Junglers and supports usually aim higher because they move around the map, while a split-pushing top laner may have low participation for good reasons. Judge it together with turrets, objectives and damage share rather than on its own.
How many games do I need for my win rate to be accurate?
More than most players expect. With a true 50% win rate, the typical random swing is about 16 percentage points across 10 games, about 7 points across 50 games and about 5 points across 100 games. That means a hot or cold streak over a handful of matches says little about your skill on a champion. Wait for at least several dozen games before drawing conclusions, and look at whether supporting stats like CS, deaths and damage share are also improving.
Will RankSurge show League of Legends stats?
Yes, but not yet. RankSurge League of Legends lookups are coming soon and depend on Riot API approval. Deadlock, Counter-Strike 2, Destiny 2 and Marvel Rivals are in the first launch wave, with Valorant and League of Legends following after approval and Overwatch 2 last. When League lookups open, the player lookup will show stats such as KDA, CS per minute, kill participation and vision score. RankSurge follows Riot's developer policy, so it will not offer hidden MMR calculators.
