In Dota 2, Herald starts at 0 MMR and each medal from Herald to Ancient spans about 770 MMR, or about 154 MMR per star. Divine stars are wider, at about 200 MMR each. Immortal has no fixed public cutoff: it follows regional leaderboards, and most estimates put the floor between about 5,420 and 5,630 MMR.
Below is the full medal-to-MMR table, how many wins a star takes, how Immortal works after patch 7.41e, and why your number may not match the table exactly. It is current as of October 2026. For how medals, calibration and seasons work in general, read our Dota 2 ranks explained guide.
What is the Dota 2 MMR to medal table?
Valve does not publish an official table. The values below are the long-standing community estimates listed on Liquipedia, and they line up with the bands in current guides such as Esports.gg. Each number is the approximate MMR where that star begins.
| Medal | 1 star | 2 stars | 3 stars | 4 stars | 5 stars |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Herald | ~0 | ~154 | ~308 | ~462 | ~616 |
| Guardian | ~770 | ~924 | ~1,078 | ~1,232 | ~1,386 |
| Crusader | ~1,540 | ~1,694 | ~1,848 | ~2,002 | ~2,156 |
| Archon | ~2,310 | ~2,464 | ~2,618 | ~2,772 | ~2,926 |
| Legend | ~3,080 | ~3,234 | ~3,388 | ~3,542 | ~3,696 |
| Ancient | ~3,850 | ~4,004 | ~4,158 | ~4,312 | ~4,466 |
| Divine | ~4,620 | ~4,820 | ~5,020 | ~5,220 | ~5,420 |
Liquipedia warns that your MMR can be "off by a few hundred points" from the estimated medal, and that MMR is not the only factor in what badge you see. Use the table as a guide, not a guarantee.
How much MMR is each star and medal worth?
The pattern is simple once you see it:
- Herald to Ancient: about 770 MMR per medal, split into five stars of about 154 MMR each.
- Divine: about 200 MMR per star, so the whole medal covers roughly 1,000 MMR.
- Immortal: no stars. Your badge shows a leaderboard rank once you place on it.
That means going from Herald 1 to Divine 1 covers about 4,620 MMR, and Divine alone is the widest medal on the ladder. Our rank goal planner can turn those gaps into a target you can track week by week.
How many wins does it take to rank up a star?
Valve fixed ranked gains in January 2020, so a standard ranked win and loss move your MMR by the same amount: about 30 MMR when you queue solo and about 20 in a party, per ONE Esports. At roughly 154 MMR per star, that works out to about five net solo wins per star below Divine, and closer to seven per Divine star.
| Step | Approx. MMR | Net solo wins (about 30 each) |
|---|---|---|
| One star, Herald to Ancient | ~154 | About 5 |
| One full medal, Herald to Ancient | ~770 | About 26 |
| One Divine star | ~200 | About 7 |
| Herald 1 to Divine 1 | ~4,620 | About 154 |
"Net" matters here. Ten wins and five losses is five net wins. Swings can also be larger than usual when the system is less sure of your level, for example after a long break, per Esports.gg, so treat these as averages.
What MMR is Immortal in Dota 2?
Immortal is not a fixed number. It is awarded by placement on your regional leaderboard, with badge tiers for Top 1000, Top 100, Top 10 and Top 1, per Liquipedia. Because the leaderboard depends on how many strong players are active in your region, the entry point moves over time.
Sources differ on the exact floor. Esports.gg lists Immortal at 5,420 MMR and up in its September 2026 guide, per Esports.gg, while Esports.net puts it at about 5,630, per Esports.net. The Liquipedia star values suggest Divine 5 begins near 5,420, so a working range of about 5,420 to 5,630 is the honest answer.
What changed for Immortal in patch 7.41e?
Patch 7.41e, released on July 31, 2026, moved every Immortal account into a new range of 1 to 9,500 MMR, per Fragster. It was not a simple cap: players kept their order on the leaderboard, so anyone ahead before the patch should still be ahead. Immortal Draft still requires 8,500 MMR. Ranks below Immortal were not part of this compression, so the table above is unchanged.
The same patch removed Random Draft and Ranked Classic from the ranked mode pool, and new players who unlock ranked now receive five Role Queue Tokens, per Fragster.
Why does my MMR not match my medal?
There are a few common reasons:
- Estimates are rough: the table is community-built, and Valve has never confirmed exact cutoffs.
- Role adjustments: Ranked Roles uses one rank with a handicap for each of the five roles. Queuing for your weaker roles places you into games at a lower MMR, per Blue's News.
- Uncertainty: after inactivity or on a newer account, the system moves you faster until it is confident again.
- Immortal shifts: at the very top, your badge depends on other players, not just your own number.
Our Dota 2 positions guide explains how each role plays, which helps you choose roles to queue for.
Do you need a good behavior score to play ranked?
Yes. Ranked matchmaking needs a behavior score of at least 3,000, per Liquipedia. Players below that lose ranked access until they recover. Abandons and repeated reports are the fastest way to drop, so playing every game to the end protects your climb. Our behavior score guide covers how to raise it.
How should you use the MMR table to climb?
Pick a realistic target, like one medal per month, and work back to the number of net wins you need. Then track your results in batches of 10 or 20 games instead of reacting to every loss. Focus on one or two positions with a small hero pool, because consistent play beats chasing a hot streak. Our how to rank up in Dota 2 guide has a full plan.

Frequently asked questions
How much MMR is one star in Dota 2?
One star is worth about 154 MMR from Herald through Ancient, because each of those medals spans roughly 770 MMR split into five stars. Divine is wider, at about 200 MMR per star. These are long-standing community estimates listed on Liquipedia, not official Valve numbers, and Liquipedia notes your MMR can be off by a few hundred points from the medal shown. At about 30 MMR per solo game, a star below Divine takes about five net wins.
What MMR is Immortal in Dota 2?
Immortal has no fixed public threshold. It is awarded through placement on your regional leaderboard, so the entry point moves with the player base in your region. Current guides put the floor between about 5,420 and 5,630 MMR. Esports.gg lists 5,420 and up in its September 2026 guide, and Esports.net gives about 5,630. Once you are Immortal, your badge shows your leaderboard rank, with tiers for Top 1000, Top 100, Top 10 and Top 1.
How much MMR do you gain per win in Dota 2?
Since a January 2020 update from Valve, a ranked win and a ranked loss move your MMR by the same amount: about 30 MMR when you queue solo and about 20 MMR in a party. That makes the math easy, because net wins are what count. Swings can be bigger when the system is less sure of your level, such as after a long break or on a newer account, until it settles again.
What did patch 7.41e change about Dota 2 MMR?
Patch 7.41e, released on July 31, 2026, moved every Immortal player into a new range of 1 to 9,500 MMR. It kept the leaderboard order, so players who were ahead stayed ahead. Immortal Draft still needs 8,500 MMR. Ranks below Immortal were not compressed, so the Herald to Divine table did not change. The patch also removed Random Draft and Ranked Classic from the ranked pool and gave new ranked players five Role Queue Tokens.
How many wins to go from Herald to Divine?
Divine 1 starts at roughly 4,620 MMR on the community table. At about 30 MMR per solo game, that is around 154 net wins from a fresh Herald 1 start. In practice, few players start at exactly zero. The useful takeaway is that a medal below Divine is about 26 net solo wins, so steady improvement over weeks matters more than one long session.
Is the Dota 2 MMR table official?
No. Valve has never published an official medal-to-MMR table. The numbers used across the community come from long-running estimates collected on Liquipedia and the Dota 2 wiki, and current guides follow the same bands. Liquipedia warns that MMR can be off by a few hundred points from the estimated medal, and that MMR is not the only factor in the badge you see. Treat any table, including ours, as a close guide rather than an exact rule.
