Valorant stats measure different slices of your impact. K/D and KDA count kills, deaths and assists. ADR tracks damage per round, KAST shows how often you contributed in a round, and headshot % reflects aim. Since patch 13.06 (September 22, 2026), Riot's scoreboard ranks players by Performance Score instead of ACS.
Below you will find what each stat means, how it is worked out, what Riot shows in the client versus what tracker sites add, which benchmarks actually have a source, and which numbers matter most for duelists, initiators, controllers and sentinels.
What stats does Valorant show you in-game?
Riot Games publishes Valorant, and the client gives you a fairly short list of numbers. The end-of-game scoreboard and match history show your kills, deaths and assists (KDA), and the scoreboard has long included first bloods and an econ rating alongside your score. Plants and defuses now feed directly into Performance Score.
The biggest recent change came with patch 13.06. Riot removed Average Combat Score (ACS) and replaced it with Performance Score, a 0-500 number that now decides your scoreboard position and MVP in Competitive, Unrated, Swiftplay and Premier. The same patch added Accolades, which track personal bests per Act and lifetime, but only from Competitive and Premier games played after the patch.
Stats like ADR, KAST and headshot percentage are not in the client. You need a third-party tracker that reads your match data, such as Tracker.gg, which the Red Bull stats guide uses for K/D, KAST and agent breakdowns.
How is ACS calculated, and what replaced it?
ACS was the scoreboard stat for most of Valorant's life, and many trackers and older match histories still reference it. Per the breakdown published by Esports.net, Combat Score per round worked like this:
- Damage: 1 point per point of damage dealt.
- Kills: 150, 130, 110, 90 or 70 points depending on whether 5, 4, 3, 2 or 1 enemies were alive.
- Multikills: +50 for a 2-kill round, +100 for 3, +150 for 4.
- Non-damaging assists: 25 points each, such as a flash, reveal or heal that leads to a kill.
Your total is divided by rounds played. Because early kills paid more, ACS naturally favored entry players.
What is Performance Score?
Riot has not published the formula. Coverage from Dot Esports and Strafe lists damage, kills, deaths, trades, assists, utility, plants, defuses and clutch or round wins as inputs, with kills weighing the most and traded deaths costing less than untraded ones. Strafe reports the metrics are tailored to each agent's kit. Riot has stated it does not affect your Rank Rating. Treat it as a feedback tool, and expect tuning, since Riot said updates are planned.
What do K/D, KDA, ADR and KAST actually tell you?
These four answer different questions, so look at them together rather than chasing one.
| Stat | What it measures | Why it matters | Where to see it |
|---|---|---|---|
| K/D | Kills divided by deaths | Shows whether you win more duels than you lose | Trackers (derived from KDA) |
| KDA | Kills, deaths and assists | Adds support play to the picture | In-game scoreboard |
| ADR | Average damage dealt per round | Captures impact even when kills go to teammates | Trackers |
| KAST | % of rounds with a kill, assist, survival or trade | Measures consistency round to round | Trackers |
| Headshot % | Share of hits that land on the head | Indicates crosshair placement and aim | Trackers |
| First bloods / first deaths | Opening kills you get and opening deaths you suffer | Opening duels decide numbers advantages | Scoreboard (FB), trackers (both) |
| Clutches | Rounds won as the last player alive | Shows composure in late-round situations | Trackers |
| Econ rating | Damage per 1,000 credits spent | Shows how efficiently you use your buys | In-game scoreboard |
| Plants / defuses | Spike objectives completed | Objective play that kill stats ignore | Trackers; counted in Performance Score |
| Performance Score | 0-500 overall contribution rating | Sets scoreboard order and MVP since 13.06 | In-game end-of-game screen |
How is KAST calculated?
KAST is the share of rounds where you got at least one kill, assist, survived or were traded, divided by total rounds. A round only counts once. Esports.net describes a trade as a teammate killing your killer within roughly three to four seconds, though each tracker sets its own window.
Why does ADR beat raw kills?
ADR counts gun and ability damage, so it credits you for the 140 damage you dealt even when a teammate finished the kill. Healing and other factors can skew it, so pair it with KAST.
What is a good ACS, ADR, KAST or headshot %?
Riot does not publish benchmarks for any of these, so every number below comes from an outlet's own guide. Use them as rough guides, not rules.
- ACS: Esports.net (December 2025) rates 150-200 as average, 200-250 above average, 250-300 strong and 300+ exceptional. This applies to the old ACS system, not Performance Score.
- ADR: THESPIKE.GG (updated July 2023) calls 110-130 good, flags under 100 as a sign you need to take more fights, and puts good pros around 140-160.
- KAST: Esports.net (January 2026) treats above 65% as a good average and 75-85% as star level, based on pro stats.
- Econ rating: Dexerto (2020) placed mid-pack players around 55-75 and standout fraggers near 100 or more.
- Headshot %: no reliable rank-by-rank benchmark exists. The Red Bull guide (August 2024) noted that a pro's 35.4% sat in Tracker.gg's top 2.1% of players, which shows how rare very high numbers are.
No reliable public benchmark exists for K/D, clutches or Performance Score either. The fairest test is to compare yourself with players at your own rank. Use the rank distribution page for context, and see Valorant ranks explained for how RR and ranks work.
Which stats matter most for each role?
A sentinel and a duelist with the same K/D can have very different games. Judge each role by the job it does.
- Duelist: first bloods versus first deaths, ADR and K/D. Your job is to create space, so dying first is acceptable only if you are traded. Strafe reports Performance Score rewards duelists more for first kills and damage.
- Initiator: assists, KAST and ADR. Flashes, recon and stuns that lead to kills are your main output, which KDA alone undersells.
- Controller: KAST, survival and plants. Good smokes rarely show up as kills, and Strafe says utility counts more toward controller and initiator scores.
- Sentinel: KAST, first deaths and clutches. Anchoring a site means living long enough to delay or retake.
Esports.net also lists role-specific ranges: average ACS of 165-215 for duelists versus 140-190 for sentinels, and KAST of 55-65% for duelists versus 69-74% for controllers. That gap is why comparing raw numbers across roles is misleading.
How can you use your stats to improve?
- Pick one weak stat per week. Low headshot %? Work on crosshair placement in deathmatch. Low KAST? Play closer to teammates so you can trade and be traded.
- Read first deaths honestly. If you die first often on a non-duelist, you are probably peeking too early or holding exposed angles.
- Check econ rating on eco rounds. A low number on full buys means you spent credits without dealing damage.
- Use the Performance Score breakdown. The end-of-game screen now lists what lifted or lowered your score, which is free coaching.
- Track trends, not single games. One great match means little; twenty matches show a pattern.
Set a target with the rank goal planner, and browse the guides for role and agent fundamentals. There are no shortcuts here; steady habits are what move these numbers.
Ready to climb? To turn these numbers into rank, read our guide on how to rank up in Valorant, which pairs each habit with how to practice it.
Track your climb. RankSurge Valorant lookups are coming soon, after Riot API approval. When they open, the Valorant stats hub and player lookup will show these stats in one place. Deadlock, CS2, Dota 2 and Destiny 2 lookups are live now.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good ACS in Valorant?
There is no official Riot benchmark. Esports.net's December 2025 guide rated 150 to 200 as average, 200 to 250 above average, 250 to 300 strong and 300 or more exceptional. Keep in mind that since patch 13.06 on September 22, 2026, the in-game scoreboard uses Performance Score instead of ACS, so these ranges apply to older matches and to trackers that still calculate ACS. Compare yourself with players at your own rank and on the same role, because duelists usually post higher ACS than sentinels.
How is ACS calculated in Valorant?
ACS is total combat score divided by rounds played. According to Esports.net's breakdown, you earned 1 point per point of damage, 150 to 70 points per kill depending on how many enemies were still alive, multikill bonuses of 50, 100 or 150, and 25 points for each non-damaging assist such as a flash or reveal. Because early kills paid more, the stat favored entry players. Riot replaced ACS with Performance Score on the in-game scoreboard in patch 13.06.
What is Performance Score in Valorant?
Performance Score is a 0 to 500 rating Riot added in patch 13.06 on September 22, 2026. It replaced ACS and now decides scoreboard order and MVP in Competitive, Unrated, Swiftplay and Premier. Riot has not published the formula, but coverage lists damage, kills, deaths, trades, assists, utility, plants and defuses as inputs. The end-of-game screen shows what raised or lowered it. Riot has said it does not change your Rank Rating.
What does KAST mean in Valorant?
KAST stands for Kill, Assist, Survive, Trade. It is the percentage of rounds in which you did at least one of those four things, so it measures consistency rather than peak fragging. A round only counts once even if you did several. Riot does not show KAST in the client, so you need a tracker such as Tracker.gg. Esports.net's January 2026 guide treats above 65 percent as a good average, with sentinels and controllers usually higher than duelists.
Can I see ADR and headshot percentage in Valorant?
Not in the client. Riot's end-of-game screens cover KDA, first bloods, econ rating and Performance Score, but ADR and headshot percentage come from third-party trackers that read your match data. THESPIKE.GG calls an ADR of 110 to 130 good and puts good pros around 140 to 160. There is no reliable rank-by-rank benchmark for headshot percentage, so compare against your own past matches instead.
Which Valorant stat matters most for my role?
It depends on the job. Duelists should watch first bloods against first deaths and damage per round. Initiators should track assists and KAST, because their utility sets up kills. Controllers should focus on KAST and survival, since smokes rarely show up as kills. Sentinels should look at KAST, first deaths and clutches, as their job is to hold or retake sites. Comparing raw K/D across roles is misleading.
